George was born June 28, 1936 in Burton, W.V. to the late Benjamin Levi and Irene (Meredith) Horner. He is survived by two daughters, Becky (Roy) Langolf of Ortonville and Nancy Blake of Arizona; two sons, Benjamin (Lori) Horner and Joel (Rita) Horner, both of Marysville; nine grandchildren, Lindsay and Evan Langolf, Megan and Stephanie Blake, Brendan and Caleb Horner, Andy, Travis and Shannon Frendt. He was preceded in death by his stepmother, Clara Horner.
George was employed at one time with Morton Salt Co. until its closing in 1986. He retired from Women’s Life in 2006. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1955-1959 as an aviation mechanic. George enjoyed baseball, country music and laughter. He was an honest, generous man with much integrity.
A funeral service was held Nov. 9 at Marysville Funeral Home, Marysville. Dr. James Bolin officiated. Military honors were conducted under the auspices of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Council. Interment at Riverlawn Cemetery, Marysville. Local arrangements were entrusted to Coats Village Funeral Home, Ortonville. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross for Hurricane Sandy relief.
