John F. Hitch, Jr., of Oxford, died on Friday, August 23, 2013. He was 81.
John was the loving husband of Josephine Hitch (nee Terzo) for 54 years; cherished father of Ramona Norton or Oxford, Paul (Lisa) Hitch of Lapeer, Carl (Paige) Hitch of Attica, and Alan Hitch of FL; beloved grandfather of 7 and great-grandfather of 5.
John was preceded in death by his son, Gene.
John was retired from Chrysler where he had worked in skill trades for 30 years.
He was an avid traveler and enjoyed traveling with JoAnn.
Together they have traveled the US from coast to coast, in both directions, traveled to Mexico several times as well as most of Europe, especially Spain, Italy, and Sicily.
John also enjoyed flying and motorcycles.
John was an active member in the community serving as a Scout Master, a volunteer for the American Red Cross, Oxford/Orion FISH, Meals on Wheels, the Oxford Garden Club, and Seven Ponds Nature Center.
John was a US Army veteran having served during the Korean War and was a member of American Legion 108.
John was a long time member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Orion.
Services have already been held. Arrangements were entrusted to the Oxford Chapel of Huntoon Funeral Home.
