Peter Robert Wandrie passed away on September 14, 2013. He was 61.
Mr. Wandrie was born on February 13, 1952 in Detroit to Otto and Elizabeth Wandrie.
He was the beloved husband of 41 years to Genevieve (Rhodes) Wandrie. Loving father of Matthew (Christie), Stephen (Lynn), and Meghan. Wonderful grandfather to Thomas, Jonathan, Anna and Charles. Dear brother of 6, he is preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Wandrie was a veteran of the Vietnam conflict having proudly earned his Combat Infantrymanís Badge. He was retired from the Detroit Police Department and residing in Lapeer. Mr. Wandrie was a faithful attendee of both Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lapeer and the St. Benedictine Monastery in Oxford. He spent many years and affected the lives of hundreds of young boys as a volunteer football coach for the Lake Orion Lions football organization, and strength/conditioning coach for Lake Orion High School. He was among the original promoters and volunteers for the Orion Veteran Memorial.
His courage of conviction, principled beliefs and fierce patriotism will forever serve as lifelong examples to us all as we continue to build a strong and unified nation under God's care.
A funeral will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church (715 N. Lapeer Rd.) in Lake Orion, Friday, Sept. 20 at 11 a.m. with visitation beginning at the church at 10 a.m. Visitation will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors (39 W. Burdick) in Oxford on Wednesday, Sept. 18 from 2-8 p.m. and Thursday, Sept. 19 from 2-8 p.m. (Rosary at 7 p.m.).
