A 24-year-old Auburn Hills man was arraigned on charges after he broke into a township womanís home and assaulted her.

Daryn Lane Dexter was arraigned on one charge of home invasion, first degree, as well as one charge of domestic assault on May 6, by 52-2 District Court Magistrate Mark Sadecki. Bond was set at $5,000 cash surety, no 10 percent.

According to police reports, at 11:10 p.m., May 4, Brandon deputies responded to the 4300 block of Dogwood after a complainant called 9-1-1 for a report of trouble. The complainant said her daughter was at the above address and her ex-boyfriend was there. The mother was on the phone with her daughter and could hear screaming.

Upon arrival, the daughter was there, but Dexter, whom she had broken up with two weeks prior because of a violent incident on Easter, was gone. She said he had been calling and texting her all day and she didnít answer, concerned about threats.

She was in her kitchen when he showed up and broke in the back door. She ran to the bedroom to protect her young daughter, and before she could get there, he punched her, ripped off her clothes, flipped her over on to the floor and bit her shoulder. She managed to call her mother while her child was screaming for Dexter to stop. The deputies observed cuts to the victimís hands, as well as injuries on both legs, her right breast, right elbow and both shoulders.

Police made contact with Dexter on the phone and asked him to return to the scene. He refused, saying if he came back he would go to jail. He admitted hitting her with a closed fist, and acknowledged that what his ex-girlfriend said was true. He said heíd made a bad decision and let his anger get the better of him.
