BMS student to travel with People to People Sports Ambassadors

An area youth will take his soccer skills on the road this summer.

Tommy Haase, 13 Groveland Township resident and seventh grade student at Brandon Middle School will travel to San Paulo Brazil with the People to People Sports Ambassadors Program from July 7-21.

Haase, a center defensive captain has played soccer for about nine years which included Brandon Recreation, Lobos Travel and the Michigan Impact travel soceer team in Clarkston. The People to People Ambassador team will include about 18 youth soccer players from across the United States.

“Honestly I’m concerned about the Brazilians,” said Haase. “It’s their national sport—that’s all they do there. I’ll welcome the competion and the experience of playing against some great local teams.”

The team will play in several cities across Brazil including San Polo and Rio. The FIFA World Cup will be played in Brazil in 2014.
