Itís time for fireworks
Donations still needed for July 2 show in Brandon Township

June 22, 2011

The Ortonville fireworks will be July 2 at dusk (approximately 10 p.m.), behind Chase Bank, 761 Ortonville Road. The rain date will be July 4.

Funding for the annual display, which often attracts several thousand spectators, is short on cash however.

The Chamber of Commerce needs to collect about $4,000 before July 1 for the fireworks show.

Several local business have already stepped up to help rectify the shortfall.

All day on June 29, Frosty Boy of Ortonville, 955 S. Ortonville Road, will donate all their proceeds from the sale of soft-serve ice cream cones to the Ortonville Chamber of Commerce to support the Ortonville Fireworks. The Frosty Boy chicken mascot will be welcoming customers during the day.

In addition, on June 28, Bullfrogs Restaurant, 2225 Ortonville Road, will donate 20 percent of each patronís bill who mentions their support for the Ortonville fireworks. Canisters are displayed at other businesses.
