Coffee hour

At 9 a.m., July 29, The Citizen, 12 South St., will host a coffee hour. The public is invited to attend and enjoy treats and conversation. Donations for OCEF will be accepted. Details: 248-627-4332.

Basketball camp

From 9-10 a.m. or 6-7 p.m. (two separate classes) on Tuesdays, July 12, 19, 26 and Aug. 2, and 9-10 a.m. or 6 -7 p.m. Thursdays, July 14, 21, 28 and Aug. 4, a free basketball camp for boys and girls ages 5-8 years in the Goodrich, Ortonville area will be hosted by coach Eileen. Happy scrappers

From 1-4 p.m., the second Monday of each month, the Edna Burton Senior Center, 345 Ball St., Ortonville, will host a free scrapbooking event.

Farmers Market

From 3-7 p.m. on Thursdays the Goodrich Farm Market will be open in the Goodrich Commons Park. Vendors should call 810-636-2570.

West Nile

Groveland Township 4696 Grange Hall, Holly, offers West Nile protection items for township residents including Cutter wipes, Cutter backwoods, Cutter Fogger and CitroGuard Candles. Residents will be allowed two items, (not the same item). Details:248-634-4152.

Brandon Board of Education, public budget hearing, 6 p.m., followed by a special meeting at 6:30 p.m., both meetings at I-TEC, 609 S. Ortonville Road.

Challenge Cup

On Aug. 6, the Goodrich Country Club, 10080 Hegel Road, will host the second annual Brandon Township Parks & Recreation Challenge Cup golf outing. Each 12-member team competes for their names to be engraved on the trophy. All proceeds will benefit the playground area at Sherman Village Park. Details: 248-627-4640.

Perry Road Bridge replaced

On July 6, the Genesee County Road Commission will replace the Perry Road Bridge over Thread Creek, near the intersection of Vassar Road in Grand Blanc and Atlas Townships. Through traffic will be detoured via Belsay, Bristol and Irish roads. Motorists are advised to allow additional time to reach their destination. The anticipated reopening of Perry Road Bridge will be Sept. 2.

Beets, Beats & Eats

From 6 to 9 p.m., July 1 at Crossman Park, downtown Ortonville, the Beets, Beats & Eats event will feature an informative and fun night of recycling activities and education, including a freecycle exchange, the ScrapMobile for kids crafting and a recycling area. This is just one of the many attractions at the annual Beats, Beets & Eats celebration. Entry to the park is free.
