Golf cart crash sends teen to hospital
June 29, 2011
A 17-year-old Rochester Hills resident was taken to the hospital June 22 after he was involved as a passenger in a golf car crash at Copper Hills Golf Course in Addison Township.
According to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department, the driver of the cart, a 16-year-old Orchard Lake resident, failed to negotiate a curve in the cart path between the fifth and sixth holes and lost control of the vehicle.
The cart travelled into the woods where the 17-year-old passenger was ejected and sustained a head injury.
The 16-year-old driver attempted to transport his injured friend to an urgent care center, but got lost in Brandon Township.
He called 9-1-1 for assistance and the 17-year-old was taken to Crittenton Hospital in Rochester Hills where he was listed in stable condition.
The crash remains under investigation. Alcohol use does not appear to be a factor.
