Valley Tent opens store in township

by David Fleet

August 10, 2011

Atlas Twp.-Jeff Valley started the home tent buisiness in 1996 with two tents, earning some extra cash on the side.

Fifteen years later, Valley rents more than 60 tents and 25 inflatables during peak season, utlizing eight delivery trucks to set up the equipment.

“The home business just outgrew our home,” said Valley, a Goodrich High School graduate.

The company growth has recently prompted Valley to purchase the property and building at 10280 Hill Road, formerly McCarty’s Golf Center, which closed about three years ago. Since then the 5,000 foot building on 12 acres has been vacant.

“The building is not just for storage—we’ve opened up a location where customers can also stop by and pick up smaller orders or sit down with an event planner,” he said “We can plan the perfect party for you. We’re also competitive in prices with dollar stores and provide the items that are modern. It’s less expensive if they come in and pick up, too. The store is conveniently located just north of Goodrich near Hill Road and M-15.”

Valley Tent Rental provides equipment for church festivals, fundraising, school carnivals, weddings, or graduation open houses—from tents to trashcans and porta potties. Rent party services such as clowns, face painters, and magicians. The business also provides popcorn, Sno-Cone, cotton candy, slushy and nacho machines for rent.

“The spring, summer and fall are the busiest time of the year, so it’s recommended reservations for tents and tables are made in advance,” he said. “Stop by the showroom and check out our selection of party supplies.”
