Toy store success

December 14, 2011

Dear Editor,

The purpose of this letter is to thank the citizens of our community for their generous support to the Community Christmas Toy Store. The support of individuals, civic organizations, the Brandon Community Schools and local businesses has been fantastic. Because of your support we were able to provide Christmas presents to 238 needy children throughout Brandon School District during our distribution this past Saturday.

We want to especially recognize Jeff Larbig of Mama Maria’s for his efforts in coordinating a very large donation of several hundred toys and Kroger for the donation of large quantities of stocking stuffers. We thank Mabelena’s for its efforts in collecting and covering 194 pillows given out to the children. We thank our local merchants who hosted our collection boxes and the Brandon Fire Department for their efforts in getting the boxes out, collected and delivered to the toy store. We thank the Moms Club of Goodrich and Ortonville and the Ortonville United Methodist Church for running special events during the year to aid our toy collection efforts. We thank OCEF for their support in identifying the needs, we thank our many volunteers who put in the effort to set up and run the toy store, and last, but not least, we thank The Citizen for its excellent support in making our program known to the community.
