Letter to the editor - Primary concerns

January 11, 2012

Dear Editor,

In reference to The Lake Orion Review Brief, “Absentee voters,” on Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012, Page 3:

1. Who pays for closed primary elections?

 2. Why are two separate ballots  being printed?

 3. Why are people required to reveal if they are Republican or Democrat to receive an absentee ballot?

 4. It is an infringement on a person’s privacy to require the person to state how the person will vote in any manner—ballots are to be generic so why are two types of ballots being printed?

5. What about the Independent Party listing?

 6. How does the uncommitted vote?

 7. Are other issues allowed on the ballot?  If so, how are the uncommitted given an opportunity to vote?

 8. Our representatives are difficult to contact unless a person is computer friendly so how does a poor person stand up for their rights?

Don Rush urged us to speak up.   We want The Lake Orion Review to keep us informed and protect our rights. Thank you.
