Cash Mob and Night at the Races

March 28, 2012

Dear Editor,

We had a great time in Ortonville,on March 24!! First, at the Cash Mob at Willow Pointe on South Street. Although some people shopped early in order to avoid the crowd, there were more than a dozen people gathered in the parking lot to go in to the store at noon. Store owners, Grace and Herb were both smiling as they greeted us. All total, there were about two dozen people who were a part of the Cash Mob that day. We even had eight people come to the after-glow party at MacPhee’s pub. Thank You to everyone who came out and supported Willow Pointe and MacPhee’s. If you are interested in being a part of the next event, please contact me at

Later that evening, the Ortonville DDA hosted our annual Night at the Races event at the Old Town Hall on Mill Street. With more than 50 people attending, the evening was full of fun, food and laughter. My husband and I kept the bar running while Don Rush, (Assitant Publisher, Sherman Publications) kept the crowd entertained. He did a fantastic job as celebrity emcee! There were tons of prizes and most everyone went home with something fun to remember. I’d like to offer a huge thank you to Molly Lalone, Donna Janiczek, Dara Beaudet, Kaye Franklin and Blake Belding for all of their help putting together this fantastically fun night!! And a special thanks to all of the sponsors, including The Citizen newspaper for their support! All of the profits from the evening go to help put on the ninth annual CreekFest event, which is June 2, from 10 a.m .until 4 pm. If you, or someone you know is interested in being a part of this event, whether as a sponsor, vendor or volunteer, please contact Molly Lalone at 248-627-8070. I’m so glad to be a part of this community! Ortonville really is a small town with big fun!!
