Fair weather for Flower Fair
June 06, 2012
Sunshine, blue skies and around 80 degrees on June 2 was definitely an improvement from last year’s Flower Fair’s rainy downpour.
“I think it was excellent, the weather cooperated and we had a great turnout,” said DDA Executive Director Suzanne Perrault. “I’m very happy the community supported the event as much as they did. I think our businesses did well and it was nice to see so much foot traffic downtown.”
Perrault said one of the things they did new this year was “pop-up park” in the middle of Flint and Broadway Streets.
“We rolled out a 20 by 20 area of sod and we had Hamsa Yoga do a demonstration Orion Music Studio do some music, Heartfelt Impressions did some music as well,” she said. “I think it was a great focal point of the downtown and the event.”
Aside from that, the event was more flower-themed than actually flower-featured. Art shows, gourmet food trucks, homemade drinks, adoption shelters and more were available for all.
