It wasn't how the week ended for the Lady Hitters - but how it began.

The Clarkston Girls Softball Varsity team was ready to win their district crown after a two year drought. They showed it on the field knocking two opponents out.

They beat Lake Orion in the first round after securing the win with seven runs in the seventh inning putting the score 8-0.

Junior Katie Nelson hit a double and had two RBIs. Freshman Rachel Vieira had two RBIs as freshman Candace Kitchen, sophomore Rachel Alli, seniors Megan Hastings and Shauna Siwicki had one RBI each.

Freshman Madeline Maday had six strikeouts from the mound to help the team with the win.

The girls continued with a win over Waterford Kettering in the district finals, 4-1.

Three runs in the second inning helped secure the win. Another boost came from Maday with 13 strikeouts during the game.

Junior Sydney Hasselbach hit 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs. Hastings and Kitchen both hit a double and Alli had two RBIs.

The girls lost to Romeo on Saturday in the regional semi-finals in eight innings, 7-4.

Romeo took the lead in the third inning with three runs as Clarkston remained at zero.

The Lady Wolves came back with hits from Alli and Hastings - both bringing in one run each. Hasselbach boosted the team into the lead with a double and two RBIs.

Both teams went into the six inning tied at four runs each but Romeo opened the top of the eighth inning to take the win and move onto the finals.

The Lady Wolves finished topping the school record with a 36-5 season.
