July 04, 2012

The Ice Silver 10U team put on an offensive clinic as they went 5-0 during the Michigan Diamond Cats Gold Ball Challenge taking them into the championship game, June 23.

Every girl on the softball team contributed to Ice Silver success by registering a hit during the tournament.

Jordan Newblatt was the human highlight reel as she hit home runs in back to back games. She also had nine RBIs including the game winning RBI in the semi-finals.

Ice Silver pitching was led by Abbey Tolmie and Abbey Barta. They held their opponents to only eight runs over the five game stretch while Ice Silver batters posted 47 runs.

Tolmie pitched the team's first perfect game of the season.

The team faced another 5-0 team in the championship, the Lady Lightning. The girls fought but lost in the championship game ending their tournament with a second place finish and a 5-1 record.

Coach Paul Workman said the team walked tall as they left the field and started to prepare for their next challenge
