Dragons make a joyful noise
LOHS wins big at Solo & Ensemble Festival

February 06, 2013

“This is an outstanding achievement by the students of the Lake Orion High School Instrumental Music Program,” said Michael Steele, LOHS Band Director.

If it’s February, then it’s solo and ensemble time. On Feb 1-2, LOHS band students showed off their small group talents at the Michigan State Band and Orchestra Association (MSBOA) District Solo and Ensemble festival, held this year at Hartland High School.

The MSBOA festival allowed over 100 LOHS musicians a chance to highlight their abilities apart from the large band setting. The Dragons took home first-division ratings, the highest award given, in 49 events. Judges also awarded 16 second-division ratings to LOHS musicians.

Dragons who earned first-division ratings at MSBOA have qualified for the State Solo and Ensemble contest. “These students’ hard work and outstanding performances make all of their teachers and parents extremely proud.”
