Look for new business phone book

In next week’s edition of The Ad-Vertiser, be sure to look for the North Oakland County Business Phone Book.

The 32-page special section is a quick guide to area businesses providing goods and services in our area communities.

From electronics to food to real estate, the section is a reference to shopping local at more than 170 businesses.

Classic Chorale concert April 28

Classic Chorale, a community chorus of local women, will present a concert at the Oxford Free Methodist Church (790 S. Lapeer Rd.) on Sunday, April 28 beginning at 4 p.m. Admission is free.

CIA is looking for volunteer workers

Volunteers are still needed for the Christmas in Action (CIA) work day on Saturday, April 27. CIA is an all-volunteer organization provding free home repairs for low-income and handicapped senior citizens. The goal is to enable seniors to safely remain in their homes.

Breakfast with Brad

State Representative Brad Jacobsen (R-Oxford) will hold office hours on Saturday, April 20 from 9-10 a.m. at the Oxford Tim Horton’s (590 N. Lapeer Rd.).

Spaghetti dinner

The Lakeville Cemetery Auxiliary will hold a spaghetti dinner fund-raiser on Thursday, April 18 at 1447 Milmine St.

Seatings will be at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m.

The cost is $7 for adults and $3.50 for kids ages 4-12. Kids 3 and under eat free.

CORRECTION: In last week’s story about the War of 1812 display at the Northeast Oakland Historical Museum, it was incorrectly stated that the first land battle of the conflict was the British capture of Fort Mackinac. That battle should have been characterized as “the first major event of the land war.”
