House of His Presence is hosting a “God and Country Day” event on Sunday, June 30 at Oxford Middle School (1420 Lakeville Rd).

The service, which will take place in the school’s commons area, is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. The public is invited.

The purpose is to honor local government officials, police officers and firefighters for their daily service to the community.

“We just want to take a day to show our appreciation to them,” said Pastor Kelvin Lott. “The Bible says, ‘Honor those who labor among you.’ We want to do that.”

State Rep. Brad Jacobsen (R-Oxford) and State Sen. Jim Marleau (R-Lake Orion) are scheduled to attend.

Each public servant will be presented a hardcover copy of “The American Patriot’s Bible.” This special edition of the Bible uses words and images to weave together the rich history of the United States with Christian teachings.

They will also be presented a copy of “Monumental: In Search of America’s National Treasure,” a 2012 documentary film, hosted by Kirk Cameron, about the founding of the United States.
