FISH is collecting school supplies

Back-to-school shopping can be so expensive and when you’re on a tight budget, it can be very difficult to get your children the items they need.

That’s why Oxford-Orion FISH is collecting donations for their annual School Backpack Drive.

The drive is scheduled for Aug. 1-15.

People can donate new backpacks and various school supplies such as high lighters, markers, colored pencils, folders, scissors, three-ring binders and loose-leaf writing paper.

The drop-off location is the Oxford-Orion FISH pantry located at 487 First Street in northern Oxford Township.

Items can be dropped off Monday through Thursday from 1-5 p.m.

Please mail monetary donations and/or gift cards to FISH School Supplies, P.O. Box 732, Lake Orion, MI 48361.

Folks with questions are asked to please contact Lynn Kennis at (248) 770-9775.

On Saturday, Aug. 3 from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m., Immanuel Congregational Church (1 Hovey St.) will host a pancake breakfast to raise funds for the “Wounded Warrior Project.” Breakfast will consist of buttermilk, blueberry and chocolate chip pancakes, sausages and beverage. The cost $6 per person. Kids under age 2 eat for free.

Take-out is available by calling ahead to (248) 628-1610.
