At about 8 p.m., Aug. 17, Groveland Township Fire Department responded to the 2000 block of Bald Eagle Lake Road following a report of smoke in the woods. Access to the fire was limited to a narrow trail through the woods to a small unoccupied cabin approximately 600-800 square feet. There was no electrical power to the structure.

When firefighters reached the structure it was completely engulfed in flames and a total loss, reported Steve McGee, township fire chief.

Oakland County Sheriff Detective Chip Schultz was notified and responded to the scene under suspicions the fire was intentionally set.
