Open houses at Oxford, Addison fire stations this weekend

The Oxford Fire Dept. open house will take place on Sunday, Oct. 13 from 12 noon to 4 p.m. at Fire Station #1 (96 N. Washington St.) in downtown Oxford.

It was supposed to happen last Sunday, but the threat of stormy weather led to its cancellation.

Kids will get the opportunity to sit inside real fire engines and ambulances; spray water out of a fire hose; see a medical helicopter up-close (it will land between 1 p.m. and 1:30 p.m.); learn fire safety tips and meet real firefighters. Free hot dogs, cookies and soft drinks will be served.

The Addison Twp. Fire Dept. will also conduct an open house on Saturday, Oct. 12 from 1-5 p.m. at Fire Station #1 (4026 Forest St.) in Leonard.

The event will include pumpkin and face painting, a fire safety trailer that fills with smoke and of course, hot dogs.
