Ski Coach Phil Nimmo said he was “impressed with the team’s skiing” this past week.

The Holly/Oxford girls team beat Flushing 26-53. “The girls came off of losses in the first two races and stepped up against Flushing,” Nimmo said.

Emma Ford won both the slalom with a time of 1:12.16 and the giant slalom (GS) with 52.20. Nimmo also said Montana Taube-White also skied well in both events, taking fourth in slalom with 1:24.52 and second in GS with 52.87. Freshman Sophi Que and Olivia Upham stepped up and scored in both events. Que took third with 1:19.91 in the slalom and 54.87 in the GS and Upham took sixth in both with 1:26.82 in the slalom and 56.60 in the GS.

“The win was especially impressive with our very young girls team as they move to 1-2 on the season. I’ve been really impressed with the progress our girls have made, and can really see things are starting to click,” added Nimmo. “This race was indicative of the bright future our young team is going to have.”

The boys’ team put together perfect scores for huge victory of 20-74 over Flushing.

The boys took the top four spots in slalom led by Greg Schultz with 57.77, Lars Joergens-Kokate with 58.37, Spencer Christen with1:01.05, and Zac Felix 1:03.13.  In the GS, Joergens-Kokate won with 45.18, followed by Schultz with 45.90, Felix with 46.28, and Aaron Johnston with 46.84.

“I couldn’t be more excited after such a dominating performance. The boys are skiing really well and I’m looking forward to this momentum continuing,” Nimmo said.

The boys and girls hit the slopes Jan 29-30 at Flint Powers. Both meets begin at 4:30 p.m.
