ICE heats up softball fields

The ICE Blue 12U team qualified for the ASA/USA National Championship in Bloomington, Ind.

ICE Blue, a girls fast pitch softball travel team based out of Clarkston, went 6-3 in Novi during the qualifying tournament the weekend of June 20.

They lost to Orland Park Sparks of Illnois in the championship game but still qualified for nationals with their runner-up spot.

Before going to the tournament to qualify for the nationals, the girls took first place and went undefeated at the 13th Annual S.C.S. Sharks Classic Soffball tournament in St. Clair Shores.

They finished with a 5-0 record for the tournament and beat the Bat Busters in the championship game to win the trophy.

The ICE Blue 12U team is Chelsea Barnes, Jessie Culver, Ashley Emig, Jessica Garmen, Sarah Kuenzel, Gabrielle Maday, Breana Schmidt, Mara Sczecienski, Kim Sosnowski and Alexis Wall.They are coached by Mike Barnes, Mark Pingston and Jesse Schmidt.
